Lakota

It means "considered friends" or "alliance of friends". Lakota, or Sioux people, are seven groups of American Idian people who banded together as members of the Seven Council Fires. They share a common culture and heritage. The wide expanse of Lakota territory encompassed the region that today comprises the states of Minnessota, North Dakota, Nebraska and Wyoming.

A device for transportation among Indians plains, the travois consisted of 2 long poles, each lashed to the sides of a dog (and later a horse) pulling it.
